Katrina Kaif seems to be on an experimenting spree when it comes to her on-screen wardrobe. After donning a casual college girl look in New York, the actor will be seen in an Amrapali-like avatar in Priyadarshan’s De Dana Dan. Katrina Kaif, who’s currently in London to spend time with her family, has just finished shooting for a song Main baarish kardoon paiso ki for the Venus production at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai. Choreographed by Ganesh Hegde, the track composed by Pritam is an energetic, fun and contemporary number that sees Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar undergoing three or four costume changes, according to producer Ratan Jain. The song also features the other lead actors– Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Sameera Reddy and Neha Dhupia in contemporary costumes.Talking about Katrina’s look in the song over an email from London, designer Rocky S, says, “The brief given to me about the song in order to design Katrina’s look was that it was energetic, fun and contemporary. Since we wanted a retro-ethnic look, I felt it could be well-achieved through an Amrapali look, adorned with traditional jewellery like baju bandhs and mukuts.” Commenting on whether Katrina, who’s never donned an ethnic Indian grab before, had any apprehensions about the look, Rocky clarifies, “There were no apprehensions whatsoever from Katrina or the director once we discussed the idea. In fact, Katrina was a great sport and felt quite confident with the experimentation of outfits. The transition from the retro-look to an ultra-glam diva ensemble and eventually a new-age hip-hop artiste was pulled off by Katrina with much aplomb.” As for the rest of the film, Katrina has a fresh, clean and young persona in the film with a couple of saris as well, according to the designer. .

Asin stalked in Singapore

Asin was in Singapore when a man, who seemed to be in his mid-20s, kept following her everywhere. The drama unfolded at the hotel where she was staying. He approached Asin to talk to her, without paying heed to the security guards surrounding her.A friend of Asin, who was with her, said, “Before she could react, he started taking her pictures. Suddenly, he started behaving even more strangely. He pretended he was her bodyguard and stopped people from going near her.”During the function, he tricked the security guards at the venue and reached the dining room where Asin was having a meal. “He told the guards that he had come from Indore and wanted to talk to her at any cost. He tried every trick in the book to convince them and succeeded,” Asin’s friend said.The man followed her even when she was shopping at a mall. Is Rakesh Roshan developing cold feet over Kites?That seems to be the case as the industry is rife with rumors surrounding the marketing of Kites. If rumors are to be believed then Rakesh is in doldrums ever since Kites failed to leave a mark on the international audience at the Cannes Film Festival.As per our sources, Roshan senior wanted to give his son Hrithik an international launch, by making Kites in English as well as Hindi. But he found no takers for Kites at the Cannes, as international buyers were not interested in an Indian film. Basically, that’s because Cannes is mainly a major market for Italian, Korean and French films.Not deterred by his canned experience at Cannes, Roshan senior has moved on and is eyeing Hollywood to sell Kites. Now it’s reported that Roshan Sr. has shouldered the responsibility of striking a deal with Hollywood executives, and allotted 20 days from his schedule for this purpose.With Kites still on the production floor and such rumors afloat, it surely would be very uncomforting for the Roshans to find an overseas market for the Film.

Abhishek and Aishwarya urged to help lovebirds

Bollywood's popular couple - Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai - has been approached by animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to create awareness about the plight of lovebirds through a special photo shoot."As India's most famous 'lovebirds', we believe that you are uniquely suited to help bring attention to the plight of these smart and sensitive birds. We would like to arrange a photo shoot with you for a 'Love Birds in Cages' ad to raise awareness about the issue, " Anuradha Sawhney, PETA India chief functionary, wrote in a letter to Abhishek and Aishwarya.Lovebirds are small members of the parrot family and the most commonly sold birds for domestic as well as display caging, which is a punishable offence under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960.The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species restricts trading in foreign birds.However, a black market involving 300 of the India's estimated 1, 200 species of birds thrives openly in many places.

Indo-Japanese film falls through, Asin is fuming

Kamal Haasan has apparently pulled out of the big-budget Walt Disney production. Asin’s prestigious Indo-Japanese project The 19th Step is apparently shelved, leaving the comely actress Asin with tons of time that she had set aside not only to learn and practice the ancient art of Kalaripayattu, but also to shoot for the film in Japan and Kerala.According to sources; the project has fallen through for no fault of Asin’s.Says the source, “The film’s producers Walt Disney and leading man Kamal Haasan have had a serious disagreement. He isn’t doing the film. And if Kamal Haasan isn’t doing the film, neither is Asin. She agreed to do a Tamil film at this juncture when her Hindi career has taken off, only because of Kamal Haasan whom Asin respects a lot.”At the time of writing this, The 19th Step seems as good as shelved. And Asin, inundated with offers is work-less. Unless, she quickly accepts another project to fill her now empty date diary.Says a source close to the actress, “Asin is upset with the way the whole Indo-Japanese project was managed. After Vipul Shah’s London Dreams she said no to everything in Mumbai including Priyadarshan’s Dan Dana Dhan and Farhan Akhtar’s Kartik Calling Kartik for 19th Step with Kamal Haasan; whom she respects immensely has requested her to.”Incidentally the number of projects with A R Rahman’s music to be shelved or cancelled has just gone a ‘step’ ahead with 19th Step. Mani Ratnam’s Lajjo and Kamal Haasan’s Marmyogi were also shelved recently. And earlier Bharat Bala who was to direct 19th Step was supposed to do Taj Mahal with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Mumtaz Mahal with Rahman’s music.

Arjun postpones party for his good Friend srk

We all know that Arjun Rampal and SRK are great buddies, so great is their friendship that Arjun who was going to launch his restaurant in July has postponed it to August so that SRK who is currently abroad can attend it. A source says, “Arjun and SRK are extremely close and Arjun makes sure he is present at all parties thrown by SRK. The two have been good friends ever since they bonded on the sets of Farhan Akhtar’s Don in 2006. This time when Arjun was throwing a party, he wanted SRK to attend it. But, SRK is currently shooting in San Francisco for My Name is Khan and is later going to London with wife Gauri and kids for a three-week holiday. He’ll be back in India only by the end of July. SRK told Arjun that he’ll be free to attend the launch only in August and hence Arjun postponed the launch of his restaurant.”Wah! Dosti ho to aisi. :)
